What To Do When Your Team Is Losing
When your team loses more than they win, it's only natural for it to get you down. Our guest bloggers Michelle and Michelle hear your pain and are here to help!
Following the NFL Draft in April, there was a great deal of buzz over who was going to have a winning team this season. Believe it or not, a handful of people truly thought that the Miami Dolphins (our favorite team!) had a shot at the Super Bowl -- or at the very least, a shot to make it far in the playoffs.
Fast forward to Week 8, and the Dolphins are 1-6 (in non-football speak, they've won one out of seven games). What a bummer! But we Dolphin fans are not alone! There are actually 13 teams who currently have more losses than wins.
So what can us fans of losing teams do to cope? Read on for our Top Ten Ways to Deal!
10) Take this opportunity to send your jersey out to be cleaned. It obviously wasn't bringing the team much luck anyway!
9) Watch the ESPN Classic Channel. There's a chance they'll broadcast some archived footage of your team actually winning a game. Don't be afraid to cheer, either. At least you'll be able to make a little noise for your team. Sure it was 1972, but hey, they still won, right?
8) Rent all the Disney movies about the underdog team coming back to win it all! It will give you hope that maybe, just maybe, your team will have the comeback of the century.
7) When all else fails, blame the refs. We're pretty sure they can handle all the insults you're throwing their way.
6) Watch college football and cheer for one of the top ranked teams.
5) Write letters to the coach of your team, and tell him how you would have called all the plays (because clearly, if you called the shots, they would've won).
4) Start looking forward to next year's draft and your team's high draft pick. Also keep in mind that it's never too early to start saying things like "Oh yeah?! Just wait 'til next year! We're going to be great," to fans of winning teams.
3) Misery loves company. Host a dinner party for your fellow fans of losing teams. Make it a theme by trying to inject some humor into the bleak season. Serve dishes such as "Fumble Flounder," "Penalty Pasta" and "Last Place Lasagna."
2) Wear your jersey as your Halloween costume. People will feel sorry for you, and you'll get more candy.
1) Get pumped for hockey season.
